You Have Not Because You Ask Not

It takes a lot of courage to ask.

Why is that? The worst they can say is no but we still get frozen to ask.

I recently received a late fee on a credit card statement from paying a day late.

Yes, I have a credit card and yes, I made a late payment. While I “try” not to make a late payment, it happens. I am not the usual late payer so I figured I had a high probable chance of them waiving the late payment penalty. But I still had to ask for it.

Why did it take me a few days to call?

Why was I afraid to ask them to remove the fee?

The worst they can say is no yet I hesitated to ask. Eventually, I was able to muster up enough courage to ask. I was blessed with the answer I wanted and they waived the late fee.

How many times have I missed out on a blessing because I didn’t ask?

When it comes to our money, it is true we have not because we ask not. There are opportunities all around us to simply ask.

  • Ask vendors to waive late fees

  • Ask for a discount

  • Ask for a free sample

  • Ask for a coupon

  • Ask for special pricing if you buy multiple items

  • Ask for the job you just interviewed for

  • Ask for a raise

  • Ask the Universe for all you want

Sometimes, as nice as you ask or persistent the ask, the answer is still no. There is no harm in hearing no other than the ego is bruised a bit. You may even feel a tinge of embarrassment but other than that, there is no harm to you.

So today, I challenge you to step out and ask for what you want. You never know, the response of your ask may just be the answer you were looking for.

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” – The Bible
